"Easter Island Surprise: New Moai Statue Discovered Inside Volcano Crater"

Archaeologists have uncovered a new Moai statue on Easter Island.

The 3.5m tall statue was found in a crater of a volcano, which the Rapa Nui people considered a sacred site.

The statue is believed to date back to the 13th century, making it one of the oldest Moai ever found.

The statue was discovered during excavations by a team from the Chilean National Centre of Conservation and Restoration, who are carrying out conservation work on the island's other Moai statues.

The new discovery is expected to provide valuable insight into the lives of the Rapa Nui people and the cultural significance of the Moai statues.

Easter Island, also known as Rapa Nui, is a remote volcanic island in the Pacific Ocean, located over 3,500km off the coast of Chile.
